Era uma vez, em uma pequena clareira do campo, uma família de coelhos. Mamãe Coelha vivia angustiada: seu filhinho, que se chamava flechinha, estava muito doente. Ele mal conseguia brincar, sua respiração era fraca e, por mais que a mamãe tentasse de tudo, nada parecia trazer melhora.
Papai Coelho, um lavrador simples e trabalhador, acordava cedo todos os dias para cultivar a terra, mas no fundo carregava a mesma dor: o medo de perder o filho.
Numa manhã fria, Papai Coelho seguiu seu caminho até a roça. O coração apertado fazia cada passo parecer mais pesado.
Ao passar perto do rio, ele ouviu o bater compassado do monjolo, aquela engenhoca de madeira que ajuda a triturar grãos e raízes.
O som parecia diferente naquele dia. Em seu ouvido, soava como uma voz repetindo: “Raiz de mandioca é bom… raiz de mandioca é bom…”. Papai Coelho parou, fechou os olhos e orou:
— Senhor, será este o sinal que peço há tanto tempo?
Tomado pela fé, correu de volta para casa e contou a Mamãe Coelha o que ouvira.
Ela, mesmo cansada e com o olhar cheio de lágrimas, decidiu confiar. Pegou uma raiz de mandioca que tinham guardada, lavou-a com cuidado, descascou, cozinhou bem e preparou um caldo quentinho.
Com ternura, ofereceu ao pequeno flechinha, que tomou devagarinho.
No início, nada aconteceu. Mas no dia seguinte, o filhinho acordou com os olhos mais vivos, pediu para brincar no quintal e até esboçou um sorriso.
Dia após dia, com a raiz de mandioca em sua dieta, foi recuperando forças. Mamãe Coelha chorava de alegria e Papai Coelho se ajoelhou em gratidão, reconhecendo que Deus havia usado até o som de um simples monjolo para revelar o caminho da cura.
A partir desse milagre, Papai Coelho Começou a ajudar outras famílias pobres da comunidade, repartindo mandioca, verduras e frutos que colhia.
Também ensinava os vizinhos a plantar, lembrando sempre que a generosidade multiplica o pão — ou, no caso, a raiz.
Os coelhos da região viam nele um exemplo de amor cristão: simples, mas verdadeiro. Papai Coelho não se cansava de dizer:
— O que recebemos de graça, devemos repartir com amor.
Assim, aquela pequena clareira se tornou um lugar de solidariedade, onde ninguém mais passava fome.
E, todas as vezes que Papai Coelho ouvia o monjolo bater no rio, ele lembrava do milagre que salvou seu filho e da importância de viver em gratidão e fé.
